Spraytest Creation Methodology

You can use this short article as a guide for creating your own Spraytest according to recommended methodology.

Goals and Benefits

  • Provide objective data on the differences in output between various rotors/applicators within the same cabin.
  • Generate surface thickness maps.
  • Recognize and solve problems efficiently.
  • Optimize processes.
  • Accelerate the implementation of new models and paints.

Pattern Program Development

Static Pattern Gun / Bell

  1. Position the robot arm in front of a flat surface with the applicator set at the production distance (typically 150-300 mm).
  2. Set timers for shaping air, paint flow, and needle opening as follows:
    • Shaping Air: 2 seconds
    • Shaping Air and Paint Flow: 1 second
  3. Place a foil in front of the applicator.

Dynamic Pattern Gun / Bell

  1. Position the robot arm in front of a flat surface with the applicator set at the production distance (typically 150-300mm).
  2. Place foil on the flat surface and set the trajectory to a straight line from left to right, covering the full width of the foil.

Adjustments for Material Sagging

  • For static patterns, reduce the paint flow timer from 1 second.
  • For dynamic patterns, either increase the velocity or decrease the paint flow.
